Project details
Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire
Type: Landscaping
Year: 2021
Scope: Landscaping
The Brief
A family garden on several levels. A large rear garden needed reorganising into usable levels, with space to sit, plant and play, all connected to the house.
Materials
Sandstone, brick and timber. Wide stone steps and pale sandstone terraces step down from the house to a new lawn. Red-brick raised beds hold fresh planting and young trees, and a black timber pergola marks out a seating area.
Outcome
A garden made for using. The terraces turn a sloping plot into a series of outdoor rooms: paved areas for dining and seating, planted beds to enjoy from them, and an open lawn beyond.
